Care Homes Across England now able to access “Whole Care Home Testing” for Covid-19
A new “task force” has been set up by the ministers to help the social care sector in England. This group will now oversee the implementation of the government’s “social care action plan”. It also focuses on working to prevent further covid-19 outbreaks in the care homes over the next year.
The government said, all care homes across England, will now be able to access “whole care home testing” for all residents and staff whether they have symptoms or not.
The offer had first been prioritised for care homes looking after over-65s and people with dementia.
Going forward, all adult care homes in England will be eligible for whole home testing, including specialist learning disability and mental health facilities.
Health and social care secretary Matt Hancock said the extended testing offer would benefit residents and staff in more than 6,000 additional care homes. This is indeed a good news for all the care home staff and its residents.
